Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

How long of a photo session do I need?

The length of your photo session depends on how many locations you want to visit, how many outfit changes you desire, and the number of people. For solo portraits, a one hour session typically handles one location and one or two outfits. A two hour session allows for multiple locations and more outfit changes.

How much do I need to know about having pictures taken?

Nothing – we can help with location and outfit selection prior to the session, and help guide you through posing and expressions the day of. For people that are camera-shy, we recommend booking an additional half hour to warm up and get used to the process.

How quickly can I get my pictures?

Typically, the client will be contacted for an in-person viewing session within two weeks of the session. We can also post a “sneak peak” of up to 3 images selected at our discretion to social media within one day of the shoot. After the viewing session, the client will be provided with a private online proofing gallery to select what images they want for digital download, prints, or photo products. Typical delivery time is 2-4 weeks after viewing, depending on the products ordered.

Do I get the copyright?

We include in packages high resolution digital files, which come with a copyright release for clients to make unlimited prints or photo products for non-commercial use. AIP Photography retains the rights to display images on the website or in print form for advertising purposes or for clients to view.

Is there a limit to the number of people that can come to a session?

We do not limit the number of people that can come to the session, however, the more people the less poses we will be able to shoot. We recommend having at least two hour coverage if there are more than 8 people or if many small children or pets are present.

Do you shoot with pets?

All family members, both furry and human, are welcome at our photo sessions. A handler must be responsible for any pets at all times. We recommend letting dogs run for 15 minutes before the session to reduce their energy level and for the handler to bring treats.

Do you have props? Can I bring props?

We have many holiday theme props for younger children and fall theme props. We also have wooden crates and a wagon, which can assist with posing smaller children. All clients are welcome to bring props.

Wedding Questions

How long of a photo session do I need? Do you offer all day coverage?

The total amount of coverage needed depends on your must have shots. Each wedding has a different timeline, but we can typically fit the bride putting her dress on through the garter and bouquet toss in 6 hours. If extensive coverage of the bride getting ready is desired, we recommend increasing coverage to 8 hours. We can add additional coverage as needed, but coverage is not typically needed the last few hours of the reception.

Do you offer a second photographer?

At AIP Photography, we are a husband and wife team consisting of a primary photographer and a photographic coordinator. Typically, we will work together during the ceremony and formals, and both shoot during the reception to capture all the candid moments.

How many images will be delivered?

On average, 60-100 images per hour will be edited and presented to the client during the proofing session.
